Erling Haaland has handed Manchester City a huge boost after being cleared of serious damage to his foot following Tuesday’s Champions League clash at Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland was taken off at half time during Man City’s 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. After the match, Guardiola confirmed he was removed as a precaution because he was ill and also suffering from a knock to his foot.

“[There were] three things,” Guardiola said when asked about Haaland after their game on Tuesday. “I saw him so tired. Second one, he had a little bit of influenza in his body. Like Joao – Joao had a fever.

“Then the third, he had a knock in his foot. That’s why he was not able to play the second half. I spoke with [the medical staff] at half-time and they were a little bit concerned, but I saw him walking more or less normally. We will see.”

According to the Daily Star, Haaland underwent tests at the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance on Wednesday afternoon. Having being photographed limping into the facility, which is near Man City’s training ground, he underwent tests for around an hour.

Haaland left the building without a crutch or protective boot, suggesting good news for the striker as his team prepare to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
