Erling Haaland destroyed Manchester United in 10 minutes as Manchester City went into the second-half with a huge four-goal lead – with fans saying that the striker had ‘embarrassed’ his opposition.

During City’s thrilling 6-3 win over United, the superstar scored his 15th and 16th goal of the campaign at the Etihad Stadium, while he provided Phil Foden with an assist for the fourth goal of the first 45 minutes.

Foden put the home side put early on with a well-taken, first-time finish from inside the box. Still, it was towards the end of the half where Haaland, City’s marquee signing of the summer, completely obliterated the Red Devils with three goal involvements.

For Haaland’s first goal, the towering striker out–jumped Christian Eriksen marking him from the corner to bury the ball home. This was before he brilliantly lost his marker – Raphael Varane – for his second, diving in with an outstretched leg to poke the ball past David de Gea.

For the final goal of the half, after being fed through by Kevin de Bruyne out to the left flank, Haaland took a touch before making a world-class pass cross along the ground to make a simple tap-in for Foden.

And as such fans have been gushing on social media about how Haaland had ‘embarrassed’ the Red Devils in the first 45 minutes. One wrote: “Utd getting well & truly embarrassed. 4 0 down at HT.” Another said: “Haaland is an absolute joke but the real joke is on Manchester United they thought they were back.”

A third wrote: “Man United might want to think about marking this Haaland guy.”A last one delivered a quite breath-taking stat: “Erling Haaland has more Premier League goals this season than 14 teams, including Manchester United and Chelsea.”

In the second half, the 22-year-old found the back of the net once again, connecting clearly with the ball to whisk it out of De Gea’s grasp. Haaland has now become the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick in three consecutive home games.

Foden then completed his hat-trick as United got three goals via Antony and Anthony Martial, who earned himself a brace.

Haaland already has 17 goals this season, meaning he’s on course to score 84.9 goals for the rest of the season.

The attacker joined City from Borussia Dortmund this summer after the Premier League side activated his £51.2 million release clause – and he’s proving himself to be more than a shrewd signing.
