Kevin De Bruyne showed off a massive shiner as Manchester City took on Brighton & Hove Albion as fans shared their hilarious black-eye theories.

The Belgian midfielder was spotted with a nasty bruise around his right eye as he warmed up ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The  talented playmaker had a bruise on his face that occurred during training with City when someone accidentally kicked a ball off of his face.

Luckily for City fans, though, the injury was not serious enough to keep him out of the side as they hosted the Seagulls in their latest league match.

He started alongside Rodri and Bernardo Silva in midfield to make his 15th appearance of the season across all competitions, having already scored once and provided 11 assists so far this term.

Kevin De Bruyne joked about his black eye as he celebrated his goal for Manchester City in the 3-1 win against Brighton on Saturday.

Supporters took to social media to share their theories as to why the 31-year-old was sporting a fresh shiner on his face.

One fan took to Twitter to joke: “Kevin de Bruyne got Blink 182 tickets.”

Meanwhile, another added: “Got a part time job at CEX.”

A third fan also commented: “He has his emo phase.”

One more cheekily wrote: “No one let him talk.”
