‘Time to prove himself’ – Man City fans react as Jack Grealish return to training ahead of Aston Villa Clash

Manchester City was handed a fitness boost on Thursday after Jack Grealish was involved in team training ahead of the game against Aston Villa this weekend.

Grealish missed Manchester City’s 6-0 win over Nottingham Forest and 4-2 win over Crystal Palace after picking up a knock, but the 26-year-old might be back in time to face Aston Villa on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola could have Grealish available for the clash as he’s been training for days even though he’s not made the matchday squads of late.

Pep Guardiola said prior to the Nottingham Forest victory that the England international was getting better without being fully recovered, so the extra time should have done him good.

It’s unlikely he’ll be in a position to start, but it will be good for Guardiola to have another attacking option as Riyad Mahrez has struggled for consistency.

City’s manager will be asked about the pair in his pre-match press conference on Friday, although it is unlikely that any final decision will be made until closer to Saturday afternoon.

The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Time to prove himself. Honestly struggling to see where he will fit. He’s never benching Alvarez, Foden, Gundogan, KDB or Bernardo, unless cup games. I can’t see him benching anyone, sorry.”

“Last season was his first season here, so it was endurable. But he can’t expect us to be as patient as last time this season. He should show good performance.”

“I hope Jack has been watching Bernardo and Alvarez last night. Playing with pace, dynamism, taking players on and really having a major influence on a game, rather than stopping, holding the play up and then passing back! Come on Jack! I know there’s more in the locker!”
