Gabby Agbonlahor explains why Gabriel Jesus is the ‘Best signing’ than Erling Haaland

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that Arsenal securing the signature of Gabriel Jesus was a better signing than Manchester City’s capture of Erling Haaland.

Jesus was offloaded by the Premier League champions after they triggered a £51million release clause in Haaland’s contract to prise the Norwegian away from Borussia Dortmund. The Gunners shelled out around £45m to bring Jesus’ five-year stint at the Etihad to an end just weeks later.

Both strikers have been prolific since their blockbuster moves: Haaland has plundered a remarkable 14 goals in 10 games for City, while Jesus has bagged four goals and three assists in his first seven outings for Arsenal.

Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor has explained his reasoning behind naming Jesus as the best signing of the summer.

He told talkSPORT: “Best signing is Gabriel Jesus for me. Haaland has been outstanding, but City always did well without Haaland and scored ridiculous goals without Haaland.

“Gabriel Jesus has turned Arsenal into something else. They have got a striker now who doesn’t labour when he is pressing defenders.”

Although Agbonlahor is convinced that Jesus has made the bigger impact at his new club, he has also said that Haaland will win the Golden Boot award.

He added: “I just look at Haaland and even when he’s not having a good game, he’ll leap in the air and tap one in. He’s like from a different planet.”

Haaland has already shattered a number of top-flight records since arriving on these shores. He became the first Premier League player in history to score in each of his first four away matches after netting in City’s win over Wolves prior to the international break.

The striker had already eclipsed a record previously held by City icon Sergio Aguero and Micky Quinn by bagging nine goals in his first five league games; Aguero and Quinn managed eight apiece.
