Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays an update by Fabrizio Romano that claims Barcelona are working on a move for Bernardo Silva this summer.
The Portugal international has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer, though there has been no official bid from the Spanish side.
Silva has emerged as one of Manchester City’s best players under Pep Guardiola in recent years, playing a key part in the success that they have achieved. However, the Premier League champions could be set to lose the versatile midfielder this summer, with Guardiola admitting as much in a recent interview.
“I would love Bernardo to be here. He is a very special player. But I don’t know what is going to happen,” the Manchester City boss had said earlier this week.
Silva, for his part, is understood to be keen on joining Barcelona. And, as per widespread reports in Spain, the Blaugrana already have everything sorted with his agent, Jorge Mendes, over a possible move for the former AS Monaco ace.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Preparations have began in Barcelona’s pursuit of the player, and the player has reported to be open to listen to offers from the club.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Barcelona are working on a deal to secure the signing of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva in the current transfer window.
But the hindrance to the deal going through once again comes from the financial side of things as Barça would first need to offload Frenkie de Jong before making a move for Silva, as reported by Romano.
Barca need Frenkie to either leave or take a 50% salary cut to stay at the club, but the player currently have no intention of lowering his wages. Barcelona really want Bernardo Silva, and need De Jong’s current situation to change in order to sign him.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Bernardo needs to say something. We need to prepare, we can’t have last minute decisions. It could potentially derail our season because of lack of midfield depth.”

“I made peace with the fact that Bernado is Leaving this summer long time ago, Bernado himself never came out to even say no I am happy at City and I would love to continue here nothing, So fellow Citizens do the same and accept it, As Long as we get 90+m for him. We move!!”
