‘Not him please’, ‘Would rather just play Cancelo/Ake’ – Man City fans react as club express interest in Bundesliga left-back Raphael Guerreiro

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is keen on signing Borussia Dortmund left-back, Raphael Guerreiro.

The Citizens are in the market for a new first-team left-back after allowing Oleksandr Zinchenko to join up with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

The Premier League missed out on signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton and Hove Albion after rivals Chelsea swooped in and sealed a deal, and consequently, are now targeting full-back alternatives.

According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Raphael Guerreiro is one of several potential first-team options the club are looking into.

The 28-year-old Portugal international featured in 189 matches since joining Dortmund from FC Lorient back in 2026, and has been an important figure for the Black and Yellows.

As per the report, Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa is also on City’s but not currently under consideration. They are also closing in on the signing of Anderlecht left-back Sergio Gomez.

Pep Guardiola’s side currently only have one recognised first-team left back in the squad in Joao Cancelo, following the sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, and are keen to bolster that area before the close of the transfer window.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
