‘We better not’, ‘Can’t let him go now’ – Man City fans react as Barcelona confident of a late transfer swoop for Bernardo Silva

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona are confident they can sign Bernardo Silva during the last days of the transfer window.

Silva was one of City’s stand-out players last season but has been continually linked with a move away from the Etihad, with Barcelona an admirers of the midfielder.

Despite Pep Guardiola reiterating that the Citizens wish to keep hold of the former SL Benfica and AS Monaco midfielder, the speculations refuse to go away.

Xavi is a big admirer of Bernardo Silva and no one at Barcelona doubts the Manchester City midfielder’s quality. It has been claimed that they need to offload Frenkie de Jong first before they can move for him.

De Jong has so far rejected the advances of Manchester United citing not wanting to be outside of the Champions League as the main reason. That has left Barcelona hoping that a team which is in the Champions League will step up and make a bid.

If he stays it’s almost impossible for Barcelona to sign Silva. But if he ends up moving on then Barça will bring in the 27-year-old as his replacement.

According to Pete Jenson writting for the Daily Mail, Barcelona are confident they can sign Bernardo Silva during the last days of the transfer window as their relationship with both Jorge Mendes and Man City is so good.

Pete Jenson went ahead to claim Personal terms between Barcelona and Bernardo Silva are already all-but agreed.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“If Bernardo genuinely wants to go, he needs to tell the club right now and they need to stump up £100m so we can get a replacement in. Can’t let them dictate our season.”

“Last days of the transfer window… shows they have no respect for us, it’s impossible for us to sign a replacement. We are going into 22/23 with a short midfield.”

“You can’t let Bernardo go now. Season is too close, and no time to replace/integrate. Letting Bernardo go now sends the message you’re not competing this year.”

“If Bernardo has a sniff off this tell the club right now and don’t leave us scrambling for a replacement when the window is about to end.”

“Let him go at this point. It’s pathetic how this has been going on for months. Give me a player like Ilkay Gundogan who gives everything for the club and buys into the city, than Bernardo who thinks he’s better off elsewhere and clearly doesn’t like Manchester.”

“He just wants to leave so bad. Let’s just find a replacement. No point keeping unhappy players at the club. I actually like how txiki and pep let go of unhappy players. Forcing them to stay is a no go.”

“We should never keep a player who doesn’t want to be here. I love him too but his constant twerking for Barca is annoying. if he wants to leave let him leave asap.”

“Selling an important Player days before the season begins is really dumb and suicide when we know new players take time to adjust to pep ball.”

“If this happens i’ll genuinely lose basically all hope for the season. There is absolutely no way we should lose such a pivotal player after all the experience that’s already moved on, with the league literally starting this weekend. Nah.”

“How is signing Bernardo Silva last days of the transfer window benefit us? How do they think we can get replacement. I don’t think Laporta understand how fundamental he is to us..”
