‘Didn’t expect that’, ‘Sergio is not wrong though’ – Man City fans react as Aguero makes hilarious 22-word claim on Haaland

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has hinted that Erling Haaland could take time to adapt to English football after his underwhelming display in the Community Shield.

The Norwegian striker has arrived in the Premier League with plenty of hype following his £51million move from Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

Haaland will be expected to score lots of goals this season after scoring almost a goal a game during his time at Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

All the neutral eyes were on how Haaland would adapt to a City side that has played without a recognised centre-forward since the Aguero days.

Haaland made his City bow on Saturday in the Community Shield versus Liverpool.

And Aguero thinks Haaland is “too used” to playing in the German top flight after Virgil van Dijk gave him a tough game in their 3-1 Community Shield loss to Liverpool on Saturday.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, the City icon suggested Haaland has not yet adapted to the step up in quality English defences will provide. Furthermore, he referenced the impact of Virgil van Dijk who by and large kept the Norwegian marksman quiet.

“He was too used to Germany,” said the ex-Argentina striker (via the Mirror).

“Haaland thought he was alone, then Van Dijk arrived and said ‘welcome to the Premier League’.”

These Haaland’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“State of this and how people have treated Haaland after his FIRST official game: he literally should’ve scored two goals despite having a “poor” match. Just imagine what he can do when he’s in form + if you ask me he did well leading up to Julian’s goal and his movements in general.”

“I don’t understand what the fuss though. Sergio is not wrong though. At the end, Haaland will need to adapt to both PL and City. But don’t worry he has the physical to do so.”

“Why are ya’ll taking this wrongly? , he ain’t jealous or anything he just simply said things in Germany and England are different so he’ll have to adjust like every signing coming to the Premier League.”

“He’s not wrong tbf, Haaland is now playing in a proper competitive league with proper defenders, whereas in the Bundesliga he had it easy because the defences were ass and would leak in goals for fun.”
