Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea are exploring a deal for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella.
The Premier League champions have been targeting Cucurella as a replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko, who recently joined Arsenal for £32m.
The reigning Premier League champions previously made a £30million bid for the Spaniard and the Seagulls rejected it as they value him at £50m.
Despite making a second bid of £40million, both parties are still someway apart in their valuation of the player.
The left-back has handed in a transfer request to Brighton, but the Seagulls are still not of a mind to sell him.
Now there could be further problems in Manchester City’s pursuit of Cucurella as Chelsea have entered the fray.
According to the latest information from the Daily Mail, Chelsea are now interested in signing Marc Cucurella, after talks stalled with Man City.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea do make an offer for Cucurella and manage to pry him away from Brighton at the expense of Manchester City.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“Could this be Brighton putting this out there to try and get City to pay up?🤔”

“Ordinarily I’d say this is Brighton bluffing to put pressure on City, but it seems Chelsea are throwing £50m at anyone who will listen so it’s probably true.”

“Now Brighton will be like, are you paying 50m or not? We have a 60m from Chelsea.”

“Thought this would happen. They’d only get involved if his agent has told them that City have backed off (given the players desire to join us). Watch him go for £50M and we ‘make do’ with what we have as there’s no other viable alternatives this window. Happened with Maguire etc.”

“This is clearly a tactic to try and get us to pay the £50M, i don’t believe this at all.”

“Txiki and co are gonna look proper silly if Chelsea swoop in and take him. Just pay 50m and move on. Let’s look forward to the new season with no question marks.”

“If true, and Chelsea want to pay £50m+ then so be it, they paid 77m for Kepa so clearly dont care as much with £..”
