Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea have told Brighton that they are willing to pay £50M for Marc Cucurella.
Cucurella has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer but so far City have failed to reach Brighton’s £50 million valuation. The Cityzens are standing firm on their offer worth £40 million and do not plan on improving their current offer.
It was reported on Monday morning that Chelsea are lining up a sensational bid for the Brighton & Hove Albion defender just days after Manchester City ended negotiations with the Seagulls over a deal for the left-back.
Several sources, including The Daily Mail, The Athletic and Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, have reported that conversations have taken place between the two clubs but no agreement is yet in place.
Now, Guardian journalist Steinberg claims that Chelsea have entered direct talks with Brighton and told them they are willing to meet their £50m asking price to sign the Spanish full-back.
Losing out on Cucurella would be a blow to Manchester City, who will have to focus elsewhere to fill their need for another left-back.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
And just like that they’ve secured one of the best LBs on the planet. It really was that simple you know, just a 50M bid and he would’ve been ours, it doesn’t sound very complicated does it.”
