Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko.
With Joao Cancelo often preferred on the left-hand side of Pep Guardiola’s defence last season, Zinchenko struggled for regular starts in the Citizens’ XI.
Furthermore, Zinchenko could be pushed further down the pecking order if City are able to wrap up a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella in the coming weeks.
Arsenal were linked with the 25-year-old earlier in the window. Interest had gone quiet though as Arteta pursued Lisandro Martinez.
Martinez is reportedly set to join Manchester United instead so Manchester City star Zinchenko is back on the agenda for the Gunners.
According to The Athletic, City are open to selling the Ukraine international for the right price and Mikel Arteta wants to make the swoop.
As per the report, that has not happened so far but talks continue, with Arsenal thought to be prioritising Zinchenko after missing out on Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.
The report adds that Zinchenko and Arteta maintain a strong relationship from their time at the Etihad, and the Arsenal boss hopes to reunite with the defender this summer.
If an agreement can be reached with City on a fee and the Ukraine international over personal terms, he would be the second City player to head to the Emirates stadium this summer after Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus earlier in the summer transfer window.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“This is actually crazy. I think all these clubs thought to themselves “how can we topple City? How about dismantling their squad coz they’d need time to gel into one unit again”. Let no City fan be surprised when we don’t win anything this season. Totally ripping the club apart”
