Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the Premier League champions have agreed to sign Everton’s Emilio Lawrence.

The 16-year-old wonderkid is not yet signed on as a scholar at Finch Farm and as a result, he can be signed by any other club for a mere compensation fee and that looks to be the direction he is heading.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Lawrence has shown the capability to feature out on the flanks while he has also been deployed as a centre-forward.

The ‘big six’ of the Premier League have all been interested in the Scottish youth international but it seems that reigning champions Manchester City have won the race for the player who has already made his Under-23s debut.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that the Everton youngster is set to leave the club this summer and join one of the Toffees’ Premier League rivals, with Manchester City favourites to sign 16-year old.

According to the latest from Football Insider, Manchester City have agreed to sign Everton’s Emilio Lawrence after reaching a full agreement with the player.

The report states that Everton confirmed their scholars for the 2022-23 season last week (8 July) who will work under Leighton Baines and there was no mention of Lawrence.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Exciting young player, heard he’s rated very highly at City, and his stats in the U18s PL are very good for a player of his position and age.”

“He played against us in the 7-0. Don’t remember him which could be a good sign that he didn’t look out of place at u23 level. But they might have only had about 6 touches of the ball all match so maybe it’s hard to stand out either way at that point.”
