‘That’s class’, ‘Spanish media can hold that’ – Man City fans react as Bernardo Silva transfer truth is revealed

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Bernardo Silva has not expressed a desire to leave the Etihad this summer.

The Portuguese midfielder is a key target for Barcelona, with manager Xavi said to be ‘obsessed’ with the 27-year-old.

Despite Pep Guardiola reiterating that the Citizens wish to keep hold of the former SL Benfica and AS Monaco midfielder, the speculations refuse to go away.

The Portuguese midfielder is still being strongly linked with a switch to Camp Nou, and a recent report even claimed that the Portugal international had told his agent to open talks over a move to Xavi’s side.

According to the latest information provided by Spanish journalist Lu Martin as relayed by City Xtra, Bernardo Silva has not asked or even hinted at a Manchester City exit so far this summer.

This aligns with recent reports that have suggested Silva is keen on fulfilling the remaining length of time on his existing City contract.

The report adds that Silva and his family have been reinforced by the belief that Pep Guardiola’s style of play suits him most after an astounding campaign for the Portuguese in east Manchester.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who had expressed their fears at the prospect of Guardiola losing one of his most crucial players.

“I’m 100% convinced that Bernardo Silva found life in Manchester extremely difficult during the pandemic with lockdowns and most of his friends and family in Portugal while he was stuck in Manchester. No wonder why he wanted to leave. But now, with an open society, he’s staying.”
