Jack Grealish has been warned Manchester City could sell him back to Aston Villa unless his form at the Etihad improves.
This comes after yet another disappointing performance from the England man during City’s 3-1 defeat in the FA Community Shield against Liverpool.
Grealish will be keen to recapture his best form this season after failing to live up to the standards that sparked his £100 million move to City last summer.
The 26-year-old England international managed just three goals and three assists in 26 Premier League appearances last term. And he played 58 minutes for Pep Guardiola’s side as they lost 3-1 to Liverpool yesterday in the FA Community Shield season curtail-raiser.
Discussing Grealish’s performance against Liverpool on talkSPORT, Cascarino said: “At the end of the season, if he doesn’t pick up his standards – what we know he’s capable of and why City paid £100m for him – he’ll probably be loaned out or he might end up back at Villa.
“He’s not playing well enough consistently for Man City. I’m not talking about being okay, six out of 10. He should be eights or nines. He’s got so much quality.”
❌ “Grealish has an issue. You can’t a £100m player and just be ‘ok’…”
👀 “He’s in danger of either being loaned out or going back to Aston Villa next season. He’s not playing well enough.”

The former striker added: “Jack has got an issue. You can’t be a £100m player and be OK, your standard is higher than that.
“City’s standard is higher than that and he has been six out of ten too often.”
