Manchester City captain Kyle Walker lodged a complaint with the Premier League’s match manager before their 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest. Despite the victory, Manchester City is second in the Premier League, trailing Arsenal by one point, but they have played one game less. If Manchester City wins all remaining matches, they will secure the title.
The win against Nottingham Forest was not without issues, and Walker reportedly complained about the state of the pitch, claiming it was too dry. Other players, like Josko Gvardiol, and manager Pep Guardiola shared this sentiment. This affected the game, as Gvardiol mentioned the tough conditions, especially with the dry grass, and Guardiola admitted the pitch led to missed opportunities by the opposition.
Despite the complaints, Pep Guardiola pointed out that the dry pitch may have benefited Manchester City by causing Nottingham Forest to miss chances. He acknowledged that the conditions were challenging but ultimately worked in their favor. Walker’s complaint highlights the importance of having suitable playing conditions for top-flight football matches.
