Bernardo Silva ‘will not force a move’ to Barcelona this summer

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Bernardo Silva ‘will not force a move away’ this summer, despite Barcelona’s avid interest.

The 27-year-old has become a vital player in Pep Guardiola’s system over the last few years. Last season the Portuguese star really kicked on, but continued to be linked, yet again, with Barcelona.

However, Silva is currently under contract with City until 2025 and manager Pep Guardiola is keen to keep the midfielder but won’t want to force him to stay at the club.

Spanish outlet SPORT on Sunday reported that Bernardo Silva had made it clear to his agent Jorge Mendes that he wants to join Barcelona and made his mind made up on leaving England some time ago.

Barça’s financial difficulties make a deal extremely difficult to complete. It’s claimed a move for Silva could depend on whether the club is able to raise funds from the potential sale of De Jong.

According to journalist Bruno Andrade, Silva ‘will not force a move away’ from City this summer, but is interested in the possibility of joining Barcelona.

The report adds that the Blues are demanding €80million for his services and will not waver from that valuation, making a transfer highly unlikely.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“This saga with Bernardo Silva is starting to wear really thin. If he isn’t totally committed to us, then he needs to leave, simple as that. But the open flirtation with Barcelona summer after summer is a distraction that needs to go away.”
