‘Embarassing’, ‘He’s not even trying to score’ – Man City fans react as Liverpool supporters mock Haaland for missing sitter in training

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to hit back at Manchester City after Erling Haaland was seen missing an absolute sitter in training.

Tensions have been high between rival fans as they prepare for the start of a new Premier League season and a whole new rivalry.

Fans have been warming up by criticising anything and everything from pre-season and that’s involved Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez taking the brunt of the jokes.

During his first two matches against Manchester United and Crystal Palace, Nunez missed two big chances to open his Liverpool account. The chance against United was arguably the easiest chance as the ball bounced kindly in front of the Uruguayan after a shot from Mohamed Salah cannoned off the post. But the 23-year-old managed to sky his shot into the crowd.

Rival fans were quick to jump on Nunez’s case, he has been branded as a ‘flop’ and a ‘waste of money’ already, despite playing only 60 minutes in two matches.

However, Merseyside fans have hit back after footage of Haaland hit the internet – and it’s safe to say they didn’t hold back.

It shows a quick flash of Haaland in training and then his stabbed effort towards a seemingly open goal before a keeper somehow scrambles it away.

In fairness to Haaland, the miss wasn’t too bad, the ball came at him unexpectedly and therefore he couldn’t get a clean contact. Safe to say Haaland will not be missing these chances too often when the season gets underway.

The war of words will run all season long between fans with this being an early example of what to expect. It is normal for rival fans to make fun of every mistake.
