Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, according to reports.
Arsenal were linked with the 25-year-old earlier in the window. Interest had gone quiet though as Arteta pursued Lisandro Martinez.
Martinez is reportedly set to join Manchester United instead so Manchester City star Zinchenko is back on the agenda for the Gunners.
According to The Athletic, City are open to selling the Ukraine international for the right price and Mikel Arteta wants to make the swoop.
As per the report, that has not happened so far but talks continue, with Arsenal thought to be prioritising Zinchenko after missing out on Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.
If an agreement can be reached with City on a fee and the Ukraine international over personal terms, he would be the second City player to head to the Emirates stadium this summer after Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus earlier in the summer transfer window.
Zinchenko has been at City since 2016, when they brought him in from Russian side Ufa. He spent time on loan at Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven before forcing his way into the first team setup at City.
He has made 127 appearances in all competitions for the current Premier League holders. He has four Premier League titles to his name.
