Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will push to sign Kalvin Phillips after wrapping up a deal for Erling Haaland.
The Premier League champions have announced the signing of Erling Haaland and are set to continue making waves in the transfer market but Pep Guardiola’s business in the summer transfer window is far from finished.
City have reportedly wasted little time in getting on with their next piece of business as they follow up on interest in Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The 26-year-old England international has been links to the very top of the Premier League recently, with Manchester City showing strong interest in the midfielder as a replacement for departing Fernandinho.
It is claimed by Football Insider that the Premier League champions have ‘submitted a bid’ for Phillips, who is reportedly Pep Guardiola’s ‘top target for the remainder of the summer window’.
Guardiola is said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of Phillips and the Spaniard ‘has made it clear at City how much he wants him in his revamped team next season’.
According to a separate report from the Times, City will push to secure a deal for the 26-year-old before they head off to America on their pre-season tour in the middle of July.
It is clear to see the club rate the combative midfielder extremely highly. Working under Marcelo Bielsa for a number of years, Kalvin Phillips will certainly know what it takes to compete in Pep Guardiola-esc teams
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Some people reckon Phillips to City isn’t the right fit but I disagree. IMO his range of passing is better than Rice’s and will only get better under Pep (as we’ve seen w Walker). And his defensive numbers are top tier. If the price is right, get him in ASAP ✅.”

“Should do the same with Cucurella if Pep wants him. Actually, should land all targets before.”
