Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are set to submit an opening bid for Brighton’s Marc Cucurella.
In the last few weeks, the Citizens are believed to be on the lookout for a new left-back this summer, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Cucurella has been identified as one of their primary transfer targets.
The former Barcelona man scooped up Brighton’s Player of the year award as a result of his commanding displays (The Argus), although Graham Potter’s side could now be braced to receive plenty of transfer interest.
The 23-year-old has a contract with Brighton until 2026 and will expect top dollar for their star performer, with reports suggesting this could be as much as £50 million, more than triple the price he was bought for a year ago.
Although Brighton will be expected to profit from selling players as part of their business plan, the club have just agreed to a deal in excess of £30million for Yves Bissouma to Tottenham Hotspur (as per Sky Sports News).
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, head coach Graham Potter may soon have a decision to make as City prepare their first bid.

However, it will take an outstanding offer to persuade Brighton to let go of another critical player. Still, they may be more willing if Cucurrella himself wishes to join the Champions League side.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Can’t wait to sign a proper leftback. Cucurella is the best in the league alongside Robertson looking at the numbers. Solid at the back, strong and fast, and creative going forward. Dream signing for me. Finally.”
