Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea believe a fairer price for Raheem Sterling would be closer to the £35M.
This morning, it was reported by Italian journalist Di Marzio that Chelsea were now confident of closing a deal to sign Sterling from the Premier League champions for a transfer fee that could amount to around £35 million.
Instantly, this raised eyebrows as a £35 million transfer fee seemed under value for a player with over 100 Premier League goals, four league titles, five League Cups, two Community Shields, an FA Cup, and 77 England caps.
City are understood to value Sterling at up to £60m, even though the player only has one year left on his contract at the Etihad.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea believe a fairer price would be closer to the £35m which Bayern Munich could end up paying for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.
Mane also has just 12 months left on his deal at Anfield, but at 30 is two years and eight months older than Sterling.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“That’s insane. Sterling goes for at least £50M.”

“I’d rather keep him for the year and let him go for free instead. 35M is a joke for Sterling.”

“There is absolutely no need to sell him if they can’t meet our valuation. Even if we lose him next summer for free but stays here one more season it’s worth around 35M. Unless you find a top quality winger to replace Sterling. He has a flaw in finishing but still a top wingers..”

“Sterling is a better player hence why he’s worth more. It’s very simple..”

“Mané is 30
Sterling is 27
Enough said.”

“Sterling is 27 and English, so think again. Minimum of £50m.”

“If Sterling played for Chelsea and City were after him, I guarantee you that the price quoted to us would be closer to the £50-60m mark. There’s always a £20m added ontop when City are involved. It’s one reason why we spend so much for players..”

“Sterling is 27 and English. In this league, that makes a whole lot of difference. It’s absolutely terrible business from City if Sterling departs for less than 60 million.”
