Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Chelsea ‘will step up their pursuit of Raheem Sterling once they offload Romelu Lukaku’.
The England winger is set to enter the final year of his contract and, having lost his regular starting position, has been linked with a move this summer with several European clubs touted as potential destinations.
The attacker’s current contract at the Etihad expires in 2023, meaning he could begin negotiations about a potential free move away from City in just nine months’ time. He is either expected to renew his deal or to leave in the summer transfer window.
With the Premier League champions reportedly prepared to sell Sterling this summer, Chelsea are one of the clubs that are weighing up an offer.
In a fresh report from the Mirror, it’s claimed Chelsea will make a move for Raheem Sterling, if they can seal a deal to send Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan.
At the moment, however, there are no talks between Chelsea and Manchester City. Chelsea is more so exploring the conditions of a potential deal.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“They can absolutely do one. There’s no way we should be letting him go to another side in England. Get him to Madrid or Barca if he’s going to go.”

“We can’t sell him for less than £70m if Chelsea really come for him.
-English player to another English club
-Big 6 club to big 6 club
-They’re as rich as us
-We don’t need to sell him
-They’ll have the funds needed if they indeed sell Lukaku.”

“If Gabby is going for nearly £50m to Europa League Arsenal with a year left, we should be demanding a minimum of £70m-£80m, if you factor in English tax and that Chelsea are in the Champions League..”
