Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are monitoring highly-rated Leicester City centre-back Ben Nelson.

The 18-year-old has been included in first team squads over the past year under Brendan Rodgers and is tipped to make a breakthrough this season.

This term, he started 19 of the club’s 26 Premier League 2 fixtures, while he has been included in the England Under-18s set-up, having changed allegiance from Scotland.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are tracking the progress of the young Leicester City centre-back as Premier League champions target homegrown talent.

It’s states that Guardiola knows how important English players are as he tries to improve his squad in any way he can and thinks a homegrown central defender could be the answer.

They claims Man City scouts have noted the England U18 defender’s progress and are continuing to check his development as they consider a potential move.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
