‘Are they dreaming?’, ‘no way should he be loaned out’ – Man City fans react as Julian Alvarez attracting interest from French giants

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Julian Alvarez is already attracting loan interest from one of France’s premier clubs.

A deal to sign Alvarez from River Plate was confirmed in January and he remains in Argentina on loan until arriving in Manchester in July.

Since signing Alvarez, City have also bolstered Pep Guardiola’s attacking options by agreeing a £51m deal to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

But the Argentine has shown City that he can also make an immediate impact. The 22-year-old has scored 14 goals in 17 appearances this season to sharpen up his shooting boots for the next step that awaits at the Etihad Stadium.

However, even prior to the player having any opportunity to show his abilities to both Guardiola and his Manchester City teammate, Julian Alvarez is already being linked with transfer interest from some of Europe’s more prominent clubs.

According to the information of Santi Aouna and Sébastien Denis of Footmercato, Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille and the club’s president Pablo Longoria would like to loan Julian Alvarez for the 2022/23 season from Manchester City.

The report does however state that at this present moment, the French club only hold an interest in the player and no such offer has yet been made to the Premier League champions.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
