Riyad Mahrez urged Erling Haaland to sign for Manchester City when the pair met on holiday last summer.
Haaland was linked with a transfer last year, but opted to stay at Borussia Dortmund with a view to leaving this summer.
At the time the pair were pictured and filmed on holiday last summer, Mahrez joked that he was ‘Agent Mahrez on duty’, before clarifying he was ‘just having fun’.
Erling Haaland’s move has been officially announced and in his first interview, the striker recalled being ambushed whilst on holiday by City man Riyad Mahrez.
During his first interview, the Norway international recalled a conversation he had with Mahrez last year when the pair met by chance whilst holidaying in the Greek island of Mykonos.
Haaland said: “Yes, he told me to come to City, so he was right about that. He talks, he said some good things about the club.”
These Haaland’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
