Manchester City and Southampton are now close to completing a final agreement for the sale of Romeo Lavia from the City Football Academy, as per reports.
Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, 20, has already completed a move to St Mary’s and signed a five-year contract this month.
Southampton have been picking up young talent from perceivably bigger Premier League clubs, landing Chelsea duo Dynel Simeu and Valentino Livramento last summer.
After snapping up German talent Armel Bella-Kotchap, Southampton are now set to secure the signing of another young talent in Lavia.
The Athletic report that the deal to bring in the number six/eight is close to completion, while talkSPORT declare it is a package worth around £10million to acquire the youngster.
According to Simon Jones for Daily Mail, Man City will insert a sell-on clause into the deal with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, in addition to a buy back option.
Simon Jones claims Pep Guardiola was keen to keep Romeo Lavia around the first-team squad despite the imminent arrival of Kalvin Phillips, and Man City were reluctant to let the player leave.
A holding midfielder by trade, the young Belgian is highly-rated at the Etihad Stadium and someone the club expects to enjoy a successful career at the highest level – hence the buyback clause.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Getting decent money in for youngsters plus some with a buy back clause, now that’s business. Would still keep Lavia though but would be tough to get mins with Rodri and Phillips.”
