Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will let James McAtee go out on loan next season.
The 19-year-old, who hails from Salford has been on the books at Manchester City for his whole career to date and has risen up through the academy ranks of the North West giants.
The attacking midfielder, who is being tipped for a bright future in the game by the current Premier League table toppers, is attracting Championship interest ahead of next season.
Pep Guardiola’s side have a big decision to make on his future amid interest from the Football League this summer.
According to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon, Manchester City will let James McAtee go out on loan next season, with Swansea and Huddersfield keen on signing the youngster.
The report states that the Swans are hopeful that their possession-based style of play could tempt Manchester City into trusting them with the teenager’s immediate development.
The young midfielder, who has predominantly operated as an attacking midfielder for the club’s U23s this season, chipped in with 18 goals and a further seven assists in 23 Premier League 2 matches.
McAtee would be an interesting acquisition in the second tier and a loan move somewhere would enable him to show what he can do playing every week.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“This is sad. That boy has the talent to play in the first team. He’s even better than a particular attacker that’s currently in the team. We all know that when a player goes on loan under Pep (after training with him), it’s almost certain he doesn’t want them in the first team!”

“He’s not coming back then . Just like Tommy Doyle.”

“Premier league loan please.”

“Should keep him and pull the same stuff we did with Phil.”

“That’s not a good thing. We should be integrating him into the squad and potentially take Gundogans spot when he leaves. There’s no player we loaned out that has came back and played for us”

“Would be a great move for him, first team football and a great learning curve for the lad, dont forget we are gaining to more forwards next season so less chance of him breaking in the first team.”

“I’m happy with this. Given he will get to play alot of games in the seasons at another club. Swansea is a great move but i’d prefer Huddersfield solely because they could be promoted soon ”

“Swansea would be a great loan if they can guarantee him a starting place, especially because of their style of football. All in all I wish we would’ve kept him this season but unfortunately if Gundo stays there’s no guarantee of game time.”

“Yeah this is gonna be a big window for us. Macca was meant to stay and fight like Foden did in 17-19 but now he’s gone out on loan, can only imagine that means 2 midfielders coming in.”
