Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the Premier League champions want to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
Branthwaite has been in and around the Everton first-team all season. The 19-year-old made six appearances in the top-flight as Frank Lampard’s side narrowly avoided relegation.
Even at 19 years of age, he is performing at levels that any Premier League defender would be content with and he will only get better as the years go by.
However, Everton may face a battle to keep Branthwaite at Goodison Park before the new campaign arrives.
According to the Daily Mail, City are interested in signing the £750,000 Everton starlet as Pep Guardiola’s side are keen to sign more homegrown prospects.
It’s states that Guardiola knows how important English players are as he tries to improve his squad in any way he can and thinks a homegrown central defender could be the answer.
This deal is still in the early stages with no contact made but Lampard would likely want to keep the teenager around and see him realise his potential in the near future.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Doubt we have, he’s not better than any of our academy CBs so unless it was one of them profit only moves this should be BS”
