‘Yesss’, ‘He is class’, ‘could be better signing than Alvarez’ – Many Man City fans react to the Club’s interest in 21-year-old River Plate midfielder

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report of the club’s interest in River Plate midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandez has enjoyed a bright start to the current season, following up on his performances from the last term. Those displays have attracted attention from some of the major clubs in Europe.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been linked with Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham United after breaking into the River first team last year.

Who is Enzo Fernandez?

Primarily a central midfielder, the Argentine is also versatile enough to play in the defensive midfield when the situation asks for it. He has had a strong start to the current campaign, having made two assists already from four appearances in the Copa de la Liga.

The River youngster has quickly become a regular for his side at such a young age in his career, having risen through the ranks in the club’s academy previously. He has showcased his technical qualities for the South American side, earning a name for himself in the process.

Which clubs are interested in Enzo Fernandez?

Real Madrid were reportedly interested in adding the €6.5m-rated midfielder to their South American contingent. Since, the Premier League has become the expected destination.

According to the Citizens Brasil, Pep Guardiola’s side are interested in signing the the midfielder, whose current contract with River Plate expires in December 2025.

Following the emerging report, journalist Sergio González then confirmed the interest via All About Argentina, as it was further revealed that Manchester City have contacted the representative of Enzo Fernández.

Given the promise he has shown in his young career, Enzo Fernandez is likely to secure a move to Europe soon, if not in the upcoming summer transfer window. It remains to be seen if Man City or the other interested clubs make a move for him.
