Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims AC Milan are plotting a summer move for Raheem Sterling for when their mega-money takeover goes through.
Milan are currently in the midst of a takeover process, with hedge fund owners Elliott Management Corporation in talks with Bahrain-based group Investcorp.
The Bahrain Embassy in London confirmed on Monday that Investcorp had entered “exclusive negotiations for the purchase of AC Milan for $1.1bn”.
Milan are currently top of Serie A, two points ahead of city rivals Inter, with five games left to play. Stefano Pioli’s side have played a game more than Inter, who claimed the title under Antonio Conte last season.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport as relayed by the Mirror, Milan‘s possible takeover from Investcorp would see many European stars attracted by the Rossoneri, including Raheem Sterling.
After a difficult start to the season, which saw him regularly left on the bench by Pep Guardiola, he has once again become a regular for Man City in recent months. The 27-year-old forward has contributed 14 goals and six assists in 40 appearances across the 2021/22 campaign so far.
The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

In a recent reports, it’s been mentioned that Manchester City are among clubs hoping to land AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.
Leao is a forward, comfortable playing out wide or in a central role. The versatility of Leao could be useful for Guardiola, as he can operate all across the front line.
At 22, the Portuguese star has got the potential to become one of the top goal-getters in European football as long as he can improve his numbers with each year.
He has been compared to fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, with former youth team coach Tiago Fernandes saying: “Rafael is the best player in the history of the Sporting Academy. At youth level, he was better than Cristiano Ronaldo,” he told L’Equipe (via GOAL).
