Pep Guardiola heaps praise on Erik ten Hag and says he is a good enough coach to succeed him at Manchester City.
Few coaches in world football are in higher demand than Pep Guardiola, who has unveiled what he hopes to do after leaving the Premier League club.
After replacing Manuel Pellegrini at the helm, Guardiola has been pivotal to City’s success in recent seasons, with several players lauding the 50-year-old for his tactical acumen and knowledge of the game.
The Spaniard is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 and could extend that, but expects to work elsewhere at some point in the future. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Guardiola and City, having previously led Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Guardiola, who worked with Ten Hag at Bayern Munich, thinks he would even fit in well at the Etihad Stadium when the Spaniard eventually leaves.
The City manager said at a press conference: “Are you asking me if Erik Ten Hag could be here? Definitely.
“A lot could be here and I think he could be one of the ones. For the way he approaches the game, definitely, definitely. I will say (it) to (director of football) Txiki (Begiristain) now!”
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
