‘Yess finally’, ‘Best decision ever’, ‘Absolutely correct’ – Erling Haaland Update has Many Man City fans talking

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report to yet another update on the club’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Blues are trying to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker as they look to belatedly replace Sergio Aguero in their team, having failed to land a marquee forward in the last summer transfer window.

Although almost every top side in Europe would like to sign the 21-year-old, the race is understood to now be down to just two clubs – Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Since the beginning of March, a series of reports from England, Spain and Germany have deemed Pep Guardiola’s side to be the frontrunners in the race to sign Haaland when his release clause worth £63 million gets activated this summer.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported this week that City are pushing for the signing of Haaland and are making ‘big efforts’ to land the Norway international in the summer.

According to the latest information of Graeme Bailey at 90mins, City are continuing to explore the possibility of signing Haaland but they would like to avoid triggering his release clause and paying a lump sum.

Graeme states that City have no concerns over Haaland’s £63M release clause, but would prefer to avoid paying that sum in one and are looking to strike a deal with Dortmund which would see them pay a little more, but stretch the payment over a period of time.

The report claims Man City have made it clear that they do not want to pay Erling Haaland more than the club’s current top-earner, Kevin De Bruyne, whose contract is worth around £450,000 once add-ons are factored in.

In light to the update, many Man City fans have reacted – here are some of the best responses.

“Good. No one should earn more than KDB”

“Wage structure above everything. We cannot afford to pay a 21 year old exorbitant wage it alienates the dressing room.”

“Perfect decision if this is true I still believe Julian Alvarez will shine in this team.”

“Yes perfect
Nobody must earn more than KDB.
KDB earned those kinda wages by proving to be our best player. If Raiola wants those kinda numbers, he must wait”

“Yess finally. Was worried we were really gonna pay him that ridiculous amount.”

“Too right. A fantastic player but let’s not upset the harmony in the squad to get him. He could well earn his way to the top of the pay scale, but he shouldn’t be handed it.”

“Best decision ever the club has made”

“Love this! If he doesn’t want, we can move on to other options.”

“Kdb is the best midfielder in the world. He’s proven himself. As good as Halaand is, he needs to prove himself in the best league.”

“That is the best decision taken. The best policy of any big team is not to upset the wage structure of the team. Manchester United is currently suffering from these episodes.”

“Absolutely correct stance taken by City here. No player deserves a higher wage than Kev.”

“Very very good. Imagine an unproven (but extremely talented) player earn more money than the best midfielder in the world. Dressing room harmony would be in the toilet.”
