Pep Guardiola has reacted to securing Champions League football for next season, after Manchester City’s hard-fought 3-0 victory over Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
City, who saw rivals Liverpool move two points clear at the top of the Premier League table on Tuesday, returned to the summit courtesy of second-half goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva.
But Guardiola, who has enjoyed having European football every season, was keen to express his delight at his side’s qualification for next season’s Champions League – a feat sealed with the win over Brighton.
“This is one of the happiest days as next season we will be in the Champions League,” he said. “People take it for granted but we have to be in the Champions League.
“When it happens mathematically it’s because we have done really well. If you ask every club what their target is, it is to qualify for the Champions League. We have done it again.”
These Guardiola’s comment’s were shared on twitter by City Xtra and it attracted a lot of attentions from Man City supporters.
