Manchester City fans have been hailing Nathan Ake following his performance against Atletico Madrid, helping Pep Guardiola’s side to take a narrow but fully deserved 1-0 lead to Spain next week.
The game played out exactly as predicted, with the visitors defending resolutely and City attacking almost from start to finish.
But one moment of magic from Phil Foden finally unlocked the Atleti defence for Kevin De Bruyne to slot home the only goal of the game.
Nathan in particular enjoyed an unpopular eveninh in front of the Etihad faithful. Atletico targeted him in an unusual left back role but he was solid and constructive
The Norwegian defender Performed well in an unorthodox position, and his tucking inside allowed Cancelo greater opportunity to advance on the opposite flank. He also defended well for the hosts.
Man City fans, then, were all over Twitter praising Ake for his display. Here’s what some of them had to say on Twitter…
