Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club’s pursuit of Erling Haaland is set to land Phil Foden an even bigger pay rise.
The Blues are trying to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker as they look to belatedly replace Sergio Aguero in their team, having failed to land a marquee forward in the last summer transfer window.
The highly-sought megastar is being pursued by a number of Europe’s elite sides, but Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to be his most likely destination ahead of the decisive summer transfer window.
Haaland and Foden, who could well be team-mates at Man City next season, are the same age. Foden turns 22 in May, Haaland a couple of months later in July.
According to Daily Star Sport, Erling Haaland’s expected arrival – on £500,000-a-week – is certain to force a review of Foden’s financial terms.
As per the report, the same could apply to other proposed contract talks, however securing Phil Foden’s long-term future is considered the number one priority inside Man City.
The report claims that a new long-term contract at City, worth £150,000-a-week, was agreed by the England winger – in principle – last October.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans react have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

“These are fraudulent numbers, that will be used all season. Haaland won’t be on more than 350k base. Pep doesn’t build around anybody why would we go and pay 500k to someone ontop of 50m to agents?.”

“I just really hope it doesn’t mess up Foden’s deal please.”

“I mean that’s fair. Stones is on 250k a week as well. So if I was in Foden’s shoes I would want more than that..”

“Fair enough, Foden deserves more money but obviously don’t want to start too high or future renewals can be hard.”
