Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays another update on the club’s interest in Sporting Lisbon midfield star Matheus Nunes.
The 23-year-old midfield maestro, who has starred for Sporting in the Portuguese top flight this season, has also attracted Premier League attention for his performances.
With the club captain Fernandinho revealing earlier this month that he will likely be leaving the club at the end of the season, City are reportedly scouring the market for potential replacements.
Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Manchester City will sign at least one midfielder this summer, claims one name Guardiola’s side are monitoring is Sporting’s Matheus Nunes.
According to Newspaper A Bola as relayed by Sport Witness, Man City went to Lisbon at the weekend to watch Sporting’s match against Benfica, which was a game of ‘maximum demand’ where they could see how Nunes would do in those conditions.
The report claims that the evaluations made by Pep Guardiola’s side have been ‘absolutely satisfactory’ and there isn’t ‘any doubt’ about his potential transfer now.
Manchester City are said to be ‘perfectly informed’ about the price that it will take to sign Nunes from Sporting, as the Lions demand a minimum of €40m to let him go.
The report adds that the midfielder is only leaving the Lisbon side if moving to a club of big aspirations, such as European titles, otherwise he’d rather stay at his club.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters.
