Manchester City fans are sweating on the latest injury news on defender Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake after they were substituted during Peterborough’s clash this evening (Tuesday).
Guardiola took off both centre-backs and sent on John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in the second-half as the Blues saw off Peterborough in the FA Cup.
It looked like it might be a pre-planned move but the City manager revealed after the game that Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias were both taken off at half-time vs Peterborough for ‘medical’ reasons.
“Nathan finished bad in the action when he got the yellow card and Ruben was not feeling good in his leg,” he said.
“That’s why, for caution and to be alert, we made the substitutions. It was not planned but Aymeric and John were excellent [in the] second-half. I would say it was a medical decision.”
Although both seem to have been precautionary rather than anything serious, City Fans will now be waiting for news on the 24-year-old with Manchester United waiting around the corner.
Guardiola’s side are set to welcome rivals Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League, with the Blues looking to extend their lead over Liverpool, at the top of the table.
