‘Well deserved’, ‘£70k is peanuts’ – Man City fans react as club officials to offer Rodri bumper extension

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is planning to reward Spanish star Rodri with a bumper new deal this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder joined Manchester City in a deal worth €62 million in the 2019 summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid and has since grown into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

Rodri, who is currently in his third season as a Man City player, is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2024.

After months of improved contracts for the likes of Ederson, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo, the latest reports indicate that Rodri could be the next in line for re-negotiated terms.

According to Daily Star Sport, Manchester City plan to open negotiations with Rodri at the end of the season over an improved contract that would keep him at the club until June 2026, while increasing his wages to £125,000-a-week from his existing £70,000 weekly wage.

With Rodri producing top-class performances consistently, the City hierarchy is confident that he can be the first-choice defensive midfielder for years to come.
