Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland has turned down a huge contract offer from the club.
Haaland is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park during the summer transfer window, when a £62.8million release clause written into his contract will become active.
The Citizens are believed to be leading the race for the 21-year-old’s signature, while La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Various reports claim the reigning Premier League champions are the firm favourites to sign the imperious Norwegian who has contributed a sensational 23 goals and six assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
However, Spanish publication AS (via Sport Witness) claims that Haaland ‘rejected’ City’s offer ‘last week’ but that it was ‘not definitive’ as he continues to consider all his options.
They describe it as a ‘big offer’ of €600,000 a week (£500,000 a week) but that Haaland is ‘still waiting’ for Real Madrid, the team he ‘wants to join’, to make a solid offer.
It is expected that the full cost of any transfer for Haaland will be in the region of €200m which is why Los Blancos seem to be having doubts about the deal.
In light to the update, many Man City fans have reacted – here are some of the best responses.
“No way he rejected €600k a year. If this is real, let’s just find someone else at this point.”

“Pull out, honestly. no one is bigger than the club.”

“He will not decline that huge offer, we can offer him what he wants, including a world-class team where he can excel. These rumours are just that, rumours!.”

“(If true), we are not desparate. Haaland should desire to come to Man City. If Not, let him go where his heart is. We are doing good and we can find others that will improve the team. One thing PSG’s failure in Europe illuminates is a star player does not guarantee wins in football.”

“It’s all ridiculous. I don’t read much into these reports. Vast majority of them are completely false and they’re usually from some “paper” or “website” that supports Real or Barca or Bayern etc so of course they’re gonna say that. We will find out definitively soon.”

“The bottom line is that, we cannot allowed this guy to hold man city at ransom. He is not bigger than man city, we have Alvarez who can offer similar or even upgraded services than Haaland.”
