Manchester City are reportedly set to rival Chelsea in the race to sign West Bromwich Albion starlet Jamaldeen Jimoh.
The 15-year-old also represents the English Under-16 squad and has made quite an impression with his talents in the middle of the park.
Jimoh is expected to leave the Baggies at the end of the season, putting a host of top clubs on red alert.
Chelsea were understood to be leading the race for Jimoh, with one report claiming that they were hoping to conclude a deal “as soon as possible”.
However, The Sun reports that Man City’s recruitment team are confident of thwarting the Blues’ pursuit and luring him to the Etihad Stadium.
The report adds that West Brom expect Jimoh to leave the club for a transfer fee, with the two Premier League giants set to battle for the midfielder’s signature.
It could be significantly difficult getting their hands on Jimoh, who is set to attract interest from not only Chelsea but a plethora of other English clubs.
At the age of just 15, the youngster has a long way to go before he can even be considered as a proper first-team option, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up in the summer.
Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t shied away from investing in young talents. In addition to Jimoh, they are notably keen on the services of Brazilian Yan Philipe, while they have also looked into the Argentine market for several young players, including Exequiel Zeballos and Valentin Barco.
