Philippe Sandler‘s time at Manchester City has come to an end after he completed a permanent transfer to Feyenoord on Tuesday.
The Dutch central defender, 24, joined City in 2018 from PEC Zwolle and made his debut as a sub in the 7-0 FA Cup victory over Rotherham in January 2019.
However, he make just one more first team appearance for City and later spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan with Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht.
An ankle injury meant he missed most of the 2020/21 season, and at the start of the current campaign was again loaned out, this time to Ligue 1 side Troyes where he made a couple of starts.
The Dutchman recently returned to City after having his loan deal with French side Troyes cut short making only two appearance.
Despite the January transfer window coming to a close on Monday, Sandler was still able to make a move after City allowed him to leave for nothing.
That left the centre-back free to return to his native Netherlands with Feyenoord on a free transfer, signing an initial deal until the end of the season with the option to extend.
The news was shared on Twitter, and it attracted attention from the club’s supporters.
