‘Approval from the Man himself’, ‘He’s the one’ – Man City fans buzzing as Sergio Aguero delivers verdict on Julian Alvarez

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has given a glowing review of the club’s January signing Julian Alvarez.

The 22-year-old forward moved to Manchester City for a fee worth around £14.2m plus add-ons but will remain on loan with River Plate until July at the earliest.

Aguero and Alvarez have played together for the Argentine national team, and the City legend was full of praise for the youngster, who has taken South America by storm in recent months.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, the Premier League icon was asked about the Argentine attacker, revealing his admiration for his fellow Argentine and going on to praise his talents.

Aguero said: “I get along very well with him. When we were in the National Team, we s**t with laughter. He always asked me things and I as a striker told him my experience. I like it, He is a very good player.”

“I must admit, he’s very good, really good. I like him a lot, we have to see in what position they’re going to use him. I don’t know if he’s going to play as a nine, for me he’s a player who has to play more freely, he’s phenomenal…”

These Aguero’s comments on Julian Alvarez were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

Alvarez, who is regarded as one of the brightest talents in South America, excelled for River Plate in 2021, scoring 24 goals and registering 15 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.
