Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has revealed why he prefers watching Premier League football over Europe’s other top leagues, as he continues to be linked with a huge transfer away from Germany.
The Norwegian marksman has been widely tipped to seek a new challenge elsewhere ahead of next season, with Manchester City joining a whole host of top clubs with a shared interest in securing his signature.
Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Norwegian goal machine is reportedly next Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.
Haaland is widely understood to have a clause in his Dortmund contract that will allow him to leave for a bargain figure in the summer transfer window.
A release clause believed to be in the region of £65million will likely prompt a bidding war come the end of the campaign.
Talks over the 21-year-old’s future have been played out in public. The player finally broke his silence in a blockbuster interview earlier this month, claiming that Dortmund want a decision on where he will play next season soon.
In his most recent interview, the Manchester City target explained why he’s currently more interested in the Premier League than normal, which is due to Covid-19 restrictions in Germany.
He said: “I don’t like [empty stadiums], I’ve been saying this before, football you can see now we don’t have any fans in the stadium anymore and you can see in England it’s full stadiums.
“If you look on TV you’d rather put on the English game because it’s full of fans and it’s more emotions and it’s more alive the game, it’s not nice as I said before I really miss the fans.”
These Haaland’s comments on his interest in the Premier League were shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters.
