Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report of another update on the club’s pursuit of River Plate striker Julian Alvarez.
The Blues are understood to be close to sealing a deal for the River Plate forward, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester City across the past few days.
Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday reported that Pep Guardiola’s side have reached a £15.5million (€18m) agreement with River Plate to sign their star man this month.
The striker is expected to stay at River Plate until the summer before coming over to England, but Premier League side Wolves have also tried to take him on loan, according to reports.
Manchester City can decide when to add Julian Alvarez to Pep Guardiola’s squad should they complete a deal for the forward.
According to the Telegraph, the signing of Julian Alvarez will not stop Man City from trying to sign a top striker in the summer.
The Blues have the resources and squad space to bring on board another striker, and given that their reported targets (Erling Haaland & Harry Kane) has much more elite-level experience than Alvarez, that might not be a bad idea.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Man City Fans as usual have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Vlahovic Kane and Haland are the only realistic options. One is close to joining Juve and the other is being held hostage by Levy. We’re getting Haaland https://t.co/QzwrOVW6um

Last summer we were given all the hope and then boom nothing. I am not hyping up anything again. Bring Alvarez to Etihad.

Hopefully rivals can finally shut up about us being out of the Haaland race because we’re signing Alvarez, this is about the 10th source to say otherwise

This makes me think that we won’t sign Haaland. Kane to Man City next summer. Alvarez spends season and a half on loan – comes back to us and becomes Kane’s understudy in 2023.
I reckon it’s a good idea because Kane is Prem proven & will hit the ground running right away. https://t.co/VdxuzvzA5z

“Top striker” ANYONE but Harry Kane but preferably Erling Haaland, Isak or Felix in that order
