Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have no plans to buy or sell during the January transfer window.
With City still in the market for a striker, many expected the club to sign a striker, but their prime targets Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are not expected to leave their clubs in January.
There is no panic at City about the lack of a striker, especially after recent results and performances have been good, and with Ferran Torres set to step up his recovery after being played in that role early in the season.
The use of false nines has reaped rewards in fine performances against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United and most recently Leeds United this season, as well as winning the Premier League for the Blues last season.
The need for a goalscoring striker remains and will be City’s priority in 2022, but the chances of an opportunity presenting itself in January are slim indeed.
According to Manchester Evening News (MEN), as it stands, Man City are not expecting to do any business at all next month, apart from sorting out loans for youngsters who might benefit from more regular senior minutes.
The report states that Guardiola likes to have his squad under his nose in the summer, when he can drill any new signings as to what is required from a City player.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, with many fans worried that City will fall in the title race given the lack of a number nine.
We are better off rn without signings. Bank on in the summer that’s all. https://t.co/peuuqeJ9JK

This better mean they’re saving their money for Haaland in the summer.

so if there won’t be any winter signing, Haaland will probably join next summer

As expected, I am content with what we have now. Mahrez-Foden-Grealish combination is starting to look really good 👍
