‘As expected’, ‘A LB would be nice’ – Some Man City fans react to Guardiola’s stance on this January transfer window

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have no plans to buy during the January transfer window.

With the departure of Ferran Torres to Barcelona, in a deal worth €55m (£46m/$62m), plus a further €10m in add-ons, Man City Fans were hopeful that the money raised could force the club to dip into the market to sign a forward for the second-half of the campaign.

With City still in the market for a striker, many fans expected the club to sign a striker, but their prime targets Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are not expected to leave their clubs in January.

However, there is no panic at City about the lack of a striker, especially after recent results and performances have been good.

The use of false nines has reaped rewards as they are top of the Premier League and were safely through to the last 16 of the Champions League as top seeds once again.

According to Jonathan Smith via Goal News, Manchester City are not expecting any new arrivals, not even at left-back, with Pep Guardiola set to continue with Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko as converted options in the continued absence of Benjamin Mendy.

A striker remains Manchester City’s top priority but the club generally do not have a track record of doing business in January, so next summer is when the business will likely click into gear.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
