Sergio Aguero will make a statement on his future at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, Barcelona have announced.
The Argentine will not be able to continue competing at the highest level due to those heart problems that have since taken him off the pitch.
Aguero has only featured five times in all competitions for Barcelona due to a previous calf injury and have scored just one goal for the Blaugrana in El Clasico.
Aguero was not believed to be considering retiring as a professional, but the former Manchester City striker appears to have been decided to hang up his boots due to his health.
Marca claimed on Monday that Aguero is set to walk away from the game at 33 years of age and Barcelona have raised even more speculation that this is the end of the Argentine’s career by revealing that a decision will be made soon.
On Tuesday, Barcelona said in a post on the club’s official website: “Please note Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero will give a statement on his future from Camp Nou at 12pm CET on Wednesday December 15. The first-team football player will be joined by FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta ”
Aguero scored a club record 260 goals for City during a golden decade in which he won 12 major trophies, including five Premier League titles, before leaving at the end of last season.
The news was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
