Pep Guardiola has reiterated that Manchester City will NOT sign a striker in January, which has got many fans talking.

Barcelona and Manchester City finally seem close to agreeing a deal for Torres for an initial fee in the region of £45million, doubling their money on the Spanish winger.

With his departure now looks imminent, Man City Fans were hopeful that the money raised could be spent on finally bringing a top-class centre-forward to the club.

An update even emerged on City’s transfer plans courtesy of reliable reporter James Ducker of The Telegraph, claiming the money raised by Torres’ sale will likely be put towards the signing of a star striker for next year.

However, it’s now clear City will not look to bring in a Striker in January, despite Pep Guardiola’s side still firmly in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Braut Haaland.

“We won’t bring in a striker in January,” said the Catalan boss in his pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of his side’s meeting with Leicester City at the weekend.

Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Dusan Vlahovic have been the names that have been frequently linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium in recent months.

These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters.

Plenty of Manchester City fans want the Torres bounty put towards a concerted effort to bring in Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland.
