Manchester City are preparing to make an offer for Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window, according to a report.
The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the north London club and will be able to leave the Gunners on a free transfer in the summer.
It should also be noted that Lacazette has reportedly opted not to extend his contract with the Gunners after this season.
Hence, such has spurred a growing interest in his services with Manchester City being the latest team to get linked to the French footballer.
According to a report from Fichajes, Man City are the latest club to have expressed their interest in signing Lacazette and will consider tabling an offer for the Frenchman in the winter window.
Lacazette possesses the qualities that will suit Pep Guardiola’s system as he is not just a central striker, he can also link-up effectively with other attacking players as well as having a great work ethic.
Lacazette – who has also been linked with Newcastle United, Inter Milan and Sevilla – has featured in nine of Arsenal’s 14 matches across all competitions this season, but has started only four times and has scored three goals.
So far, Lacazette has scored 68 times and assisted 29 times in 179 appearances for the Gunners.
Should Pep Guardiola Give A Green Signal?
There is no hiding the fact that Pep Guardiola is keen to recruit a new centre-forward, after Man City were left frustrated with their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane over the summer.
The Citizens have also been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland, but they have now identified Lacazette as a cheaper alternative.
